Robert Joseph is a Stanford University graduate in Neuropsychology whose early work in the Pediatric Endocrinology Lab at Stanford Medical School explored the hormonal systems involved in stress, reproductive function, and metabolic balance. As he went on to build computational models simulating the activity of these systems, Robert began observing “patterns within patterns” and “patterns that repeated in phases.”
Recognizing similarities between these biological patterns and the musical structures of canons and fugues, Robert began exploring whether physiological data could be translated into sound. From this came the concept of State Song, captured in the phrase, “Listen, you’re made of music!”
As wearable technologies capable of capturing biometric data emerged, Robert founded MediMuse and subsequently received a patent for the technology upon which the State Song platform and its applications are built. His work continues to explore the intersection of human physiology, data, technology, and music.

Robert Joseph and Harri Wolf are exploring a remarkable intersection of iridology, technology, and music: the translation of visible iris patterns into musical form.
Their exploratory project maps iris surface data and imagery across a musical timeline while also investigating three-dimensional ocular reconstruction. By adding depth to surface imagery, their goal is to explore musical translations of three-dimensional and volumetric iris structures.
The concept proposes that each unique three-dimensional iris pattern may have its own unique musical expression, opening an intriguing new avenue for exploring the iris through data, pattern, technology, and sound.
