Ruby LawlerIridologist at the “The House of Sunshine” In Tyler, Texas USA as interviewed by Maureen Kianna Smith One of our desires as an Iridology Association “for the people and by the people” is to present a “window of how some successful Iridologists got started and practice Iridology. The interview is not oriented to scientific “clinical facts”. Rather, it is the beginning of many interviews of Iridologists from around our World. The interviews will portray the many facets of the human, everyday challenges of being an Iridologist. This specific article portrays, Iridology being used from a home business perspective. In the 1970’s Ruby Lawler took a path using Iridology that changed her life. Since that time with “careful” use of Iridology, Ruby has helped to healthfully change the lives of many others in a quiet but quite remarkable way. Ruby lives in Tyler, Texas with her husband Chuck and her parents. Her house is surrounded by lots of trees and has a lake behind it. Serenity (peaceful, deep inner-confidence) seems to be the tone in Ruby’s environment. Her home store is called “The House of Sunshine”. From her at home business, she can go easily to the “little apartment” in her home and care for her mother and father or be with her husband and play with her grandchildren. There is a small room where clients can go, whether they have an appointment or not, to read a book about health or watch a video, or just look outside at the serene setting. This room offers a gentle, safe haven away from a very busy world with a lot of expectations. Besides books on health, Ruby provides her clients with spiritual books for personal inner-growth, which is an essential ingredient in her work. “It is so important to address the emotional issues that affect our health. The stresses of what we have emotionally, unconsciously (stuffed into our body) can affect our health…a pain in the hip might be emotional”. She listens to her client’s problems and tries to help them with stress diffusion. Some of her Chinese constitutional remedies address synergistically both emotional and physical issues and bring a sense of well being. She emphasizes the importance of a diary or journal for her clients to track what’s important to their healing. Ruby Lawler has a very full practice as an Iridologist often working with 10 people a day and spending forty-five minutes to an hour with each client. These are long hours; however, she has plenty of energy because her work adds more joy to her already full life. She has a lot of repeat business. Ruby’s clients seemed to have developed a life long relationship with her and feel as if she is their trusted friend. Indeed, Ruby feels the same way in her heart about them. If a client cannot afford herbal remedies, Ruby finds a way to assist them to get what they need. Ruby teaches Iridology to her students once every three months or when the need develops. She has interns who come to study with her. She finds being a mentor for Iridology to be an immensely enriching experience for her and her students. Her regular quarterly classes usually have about 15 students each time. Ruby has studied many classes in Iridology and uses a combination of the American Iridology of Dr. Bernard Jensen and European Iridology and emotional models like Denny Ray Johnson’s Rayid. She finds the blue mixed and dark brown eye constitutions from the European Iridology to be very helpful in getting an overall perspective of the dynamics of a client. “Of course, I read all the printed materials about Iridology I can get my hands on!” Ruby has an iris camera built by her husband, Chuck. Her client’s eyes are photographed by video camera and then put on a monitor so they can see their own eyes. There is an overlay to help the client see which part of their own body needs help. She feels this puts them in charge of their own body. She gives printed information to each client about Iridology and about what they see in their own eyes. In this way she feels she is teaching them to take care of themselves and to help their own family by looking into their eyes. When she travels she uses a Polaroid camera to photograph the clients eyes. When asked about the most important aspect of Iridology, Ruby answered, “Prevention” of dis-”ease” for the inherited aspects of both the physical body and emotions. For instance, it is important for a father to understand who his children are, rather than what he would like them to be. Perhaps, if he is prepared with information from an iridology reading, he could be kinder and more patient and understanding of his children’s behaviors and attitudes. His children could then express more of their own true self. To Ruby personally, “Acceptance” of herself and her own genetics has been the greatest gift and challenge of Iridology. In the 1970’s Ruby was a Mom selling Shaklee health products from her home. She had 5 children in her care then. Ruby’s parents met an iridologist while they were vacationing in California. The Iridologist helped them immensely with their arthritis. In fact, they were so impressed that they paid for her to come to Texas to help Ruby and her children. At that time, Ruby was having a serious health problem with her breast and the Iridologist correctly analyzed Ruby health issue. From that moment on Ruby’s life changed. She avidly studied Iridology and became an Iridologist. She has shared and cared for thousands of clients over the years using Iridology as a tool for understanding. In fact, her husband, who is a retired chemist, came to her as a client with a serious health issue that could have required surgery. Ruby used Iridology and herbs to help him resolve a prostate health successfully. The healing was so successful that they got married. When Chuck was pronounced “well” by his medical doctors he told Ruby, “you saved my life, now I want to spend the rest of my life helping you and making your life the happiest it can be”. Ruby’s husband became so interested with Iridology that he became an Iridologist himself. Happy ending! Yes! And a happy beginning and blessing for those who are open to Iridology and health in Tyler, Texas.
