Dr. Peter Guhl

Peter Guhl Dr Guhl is the Director of Research for the International Iridology Practitioners Association. He has served on its Board of Directors for about ten years. Iridology has been a pursuit of his for almost thirty years. Initially certified by Dr. Bernard Jensen, he continued his studies, including Denny Johnson’s Rayid method and Dr. Daniele Lo Rito’s work He studied with IIPA’s founders Drs. Harri Wolf and Bill Caradonna. He is a Certified Comprehensive Iridology Practitioner and also a Diplomat Instructor for levels I and II. He has lectured and written about iridology as well as iris scanning systems for identification based on iris biometrics. He has an extensive background in alternative healthcare modalities and is pursuing doctoral degrees in nutrition and naturopathy. He is a member of the research team studying iridology from Howard University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. and The University of North Carolina Department of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem North Carolina.

He has an active practice with an emphasis on Behavioral Neuro-Optometry. This specialty treats visual problems caused by brain disorders, including traumatic brain injury, stroke and developmental or learning difficulties. Dr. Guhl was a pioneer in incorporating Optometric Syntonic Color therapy into this field. He is versed in energy medicine and nutrition. He is certified in Lasik care by the Laser Optic Center and is a Certified Wave Designer of custom contact lens.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the American College of Optometric Physicians. He is a charter member and is certified by the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He is an alumnus of the Ohio State University and did his professional studies at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. He interned at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Guhl served as president of the Connecticut Association of Optometrists while he practiced there. He is a recipient of the 2007 American Optometric Association’s Optometric Recognition Award.

When he isn’t traveling, he is in sailor’s bliss on the Chesapeake Bay. He also enjoys singing and has soloed or performed in the States and Europe with numerous groups. He is active in Lions Club International and church. He enjoys gardening and spending time with friends and family.
